Description
This document records the granting of power from David Carson's brother, Andrew Carson to his attorney, Mathew Carson. It comes from a series of North Carolina and Missouri documents in which relatives of David Carson claimed ownership of his Missouri estate as it was being settled in the wake of his death. He writes, "I Andrew Carson of the County and State aforesaid have this day made constitute and appointed Mathew Carson my legal attorney in Law and in fact to demand to collect sue for receive and receipt in my name and for me to collect and receive all dues moneys and effects property personal or real that may be coming to me from the Estate of David Carson decd late of the County of Platte and State of Missouri which money debts or property I am entitled to as Brother and legal heir of David Carson." He then signs the document, which is also signed by James Wagg Clerk of the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions for the County of Ashe and S. P. Wagg D.C who confirm Andrew Carson's power of attorney statement. The next day, John Reves, Chairman of the Court of Pleas and quarter sessions also signed and confirmed the document.
