              <text>This complaint was written and signed by Letitia's attorney, A.J. Thayer, and signed on September 22, 1854. In this legal document, attorney Thayer summarizes Letitia's position against Greenberry Smith saying that Letitia, "worked labored &amp;amp; performed services for the said David Carson during his lifetime &amp;amp; at his special instances &amp;amp; request for the term of seven years &amp;amp; six months in the county of Benton territory of Oregon and also on the road while crossing the plains between the State of Missouri &amp;amp; said Territory, which said work labor &amp;amp; services were done &amp;amp; performed between the 1st day of May in the year AD 1845 and the 1st day of March AD 1853." It concludes that because of this labor, Letitia is due $1000 from Greenberry Smith.</text>
