1900s c. Josephine Moore and her Children

Dublin Core

Title

1900s c. Josephine Moore and her Children

Description

Josephine Moore and her children, Myra, Neva, Iva, and Merle, posed in the parlor of their home in the Soap Creek Valley. Two of the girls are holding dolls. Good detail of furnishings and interior details, such as board walls and ceiling, wainscotting, and 4-paneled door. A portrait of one of the grandmothers hangs on the wall. Although this image dates nearly 40 years after Letitia moved from the Soap Creek Valley, it paints a portrait of the life of Soap Creek Valley settlers in a time period similar to, adjacent to Letitia's. The surrounding land and lifestyle mirror what David and Letitia experienced during their time in the valley, giving us an idea of what life would have been like for them when photographs were too new to have captured Benton County, Oregon.
