Title
July 17, 1854 Letitia Carson bill to David Carson for unpaid labor
Description
This legal document is a bill that denotes the time and cost of Letitia's labor for David Carson in the years 1845-1853. The bill establishes Letitia's duration of unpaid labor, and explains the total cost of such labor saying, "Seven years & six months labor done & performed for the said David Carson between the 1st day of May AD 1845 and the 1st day of March AD 1853, at $200.00 per year making in all $1500.00." It goes on to sum up the cost of David Carson boarding and clothing her children as $500, giving the total sum of $1000. It is this sum that Letitia then fights for in her first court battle against GreenberrySmith. The end of the document provides two dates, July 12th, 1854, when the bill was totaled, and July 17th, 1854, when Judge of Probate D.W. Russell signed it.
