Page 4 is continued from previous page and can be roughly transcribed as “Of section twenty-five (?) in township fifty-five North in Range twenty-three West each of said quarter section herein mentioned containing one hundred and dirty acres each, To have and to hold the above granted promise to the said party of the seemed part to his heirs and assigns — In testimony whereof the said parties of the first part have hereafter set their — and seals the day and year first above written John B Carson (seal) Anne Carson (seal) State of Missouri County of St Louis Be it remembered that on this 16th day of august AD 1845 before the undersigned clerk of the county — and for the county aforesaid came John B Carson and Anne his wife who and both personally known to me to be the same known whose names and — to the foregoing — — of writing as parties here to and severally acknowledged the same to be their act and did for the purpose therein mentioned and this the said Anne wife of said Carson being by one first made — within context of said — acknowledged on an examination - and apart from her husband that she expected the same — — and with— — compassion under inflame of her said husband In testimony whereof I Have hereafter act my — and alleged the deal of said court at office in St Louis with the date last aforesaid J.D. Barlow Clerk By Bee E. Brockett D.C.”
