This document is from a series of Missouri court cases concerning David Carson during his time in Platte County, Missouri. It reads, “The State of Missouri to the Constable of lee Township in the county of Platte: Greeting, you are hereby commanded to Summon David Carson to appear before the undersigned, one of the Justices of the Peace of Lee Township, in Platte County on the Second Saturday in September 1839 at ten of the clock in the forenoon, at Charles Wells, in the same township, to answer the complaint of Jas H. Bullard, Wm. D. Bullard and N.E. Broaddus. Given under by hand, this 10th August 1839.” It is signed by Charles Wells Justice of the Peace.
