1854 Benton Co Census

Dublin Core

Title

1854 Benton Co Census

Description

This document is a transcription of a primary source, the 1854 Census conducted by Charles Wells an Assessor in Benton County, Oregon. It was then subscribed and sworn to before Auditor B.R. Biddle on October 24th, 1854. The census provides a general overview of those living in Benton County, including statistics on gender, voting ability, and age. The census was copied from the original In the Benton County, Oregon Courthouse by Mrs. James 0. Moore Winama Chapter D. A. R. in 1947. Then the D. A. R. Version was scanned and reindexed By Danell Aukerman for the Benton County Genealogical Society. David Carson is listed on the third page, it states he is a voter and above 21, but no other information is provided. His inclusion in this census is curious as his death occurred two years prior, maybe this was published without edits concerning deaths and other details and was collected prior to 1854.
