Title

December 4, 2014 - Letitia Carson Gravestone

Description

A 2014 photograph of Letitia Carson's gravestone after it has been cared for and cleaned. The exterior is now more legible, it is still in three pieces. The tombstone reads, Letitia Carson, died Feb. 18th, 1888. Aged 85 years, 10 months, 18 days. Below is a faded quote that begins, "no pain, no grief, no -- can reach the peaceful sleeper here." Letitia's gravestone rests in Stephens cemetery. Benjamin Stephens had a Land Claim nearby and the cemetery is named for him and was on his property. He likely had a relation to Letitia and Jack, giving her a major tombstone and a prominent position in his graveyard.
