Description

This document is written by Francis Bryan as he appoints power to his attorney Mathew Carson and claims a connection to David Carson's Missouri estate. It comes from a series of North Carolina and Missouri documents in which relatives of David Carson claimed ownership of his Missouri estate as it was being settled in the wake of his death. He writes, "Know all men by these presents that we Francis Bryan in right of my wife Peggy formerly Peggy Carson, John H Carson, Guardian of the heirs of John Carson decd Robert Carson, Thomas Carson, Wm Carson, John T. Hawthorn, in right of my wife Jane formerly Jane Carson Andrew Carson & Edwin Carson all of the State and County aforesaid have this day made constituted and appointed Mathew Carson our lawful Agent and Attorney in law & in fact to demand sue for receive and receipt in our names and to collect all moneys dues and debts that may be coming to us from the Estate of David Carson decd late of the County of Platte & State of Missouri which money & other effects we are entitled to as heirs of John Carson decd legal heirs of David Carson decd hereby notifying and confirming all and every thing that our Said attorney Mathew Carson Shall or may do as full & effectually as if we ourselves were present assenting thereto. In testimony whereof we have hereunto Set our hands and affixed our Seals this 26th day of September 1859." He and seven others signed it including Robt Carson, Jno T. Hawthorn, Thos J. Carson, Andrew J. Carson, Edwin Carson, William Carson, Francis Bryan, J. H. Carson on September 26th, 1859.
