Description
This document is written by Joseph Blevins as he appoints power to his attorney Mathew Carson and claims a connection to David Carson's Missouri estate. It comes from a series of North Carolina and Missouri documents in which relatives of David Carson claimed ownership of his Missouri estate as it was being settled in the wake of his death. He writes, "Know all men by these presents that I Joseph Blevins of the county and State aforesaid have this day made constitute and appointed Mathew Carson my Legal Attorney in Law & in fact to demand collect sue for recover & receipt in my name and for me to collect and receive all dues moneys and effects property personal or real that may be conveyed to me from the Estate of David Carson decd late of the County of Platte & State of Missouri which money debts of property am entitled to as husband of Jane Blevins formerly Jane Carson legal heir of David Carson decd and I hereby ratify and confirm all and every thing that my Said Attorney Shall or may do in and above the Said premises as fully & effectually as If I myself were personally present assenting thereto. In testimony whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and affixed my Seal this 26th day of September A.D. 1858." It is signed by Robt Gambill Clk, Jno Reves Chm, and Joseph Blevins and dated September 26th, 1858.
