Description

This document was written in 1853, in the wake of David Carson's death regarding his property in Platte County, Missouri, where he resided before moving to Oregon Territory with Letitia. This receipt records that John Robinson, the administrator of Carson's Missouri estate has paid taxes on the land. It reads that Robinson has paid "the sum of twenty-six dollars and 40/100 cts in full for the State and County tax on said deceased Realty to wit: the N.W. quarter of section 22, Town 52 of Range 35 West containing 160 acres for the years 1850, 1851 and 1852." The document includes the coordinates of the land, as well as the size, dates, and total that Robinson paid. It is signed by Lycurgus Shepard Platte County sheriff and collector.
